The Pasadena Ronald McDonald House® (PRMH) provides inexpensive, and often free, lodging for families while their children undergo treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses at Huntington Memorial Hospital and other medical facilities in the San Gabriel Valley. The PRMH opened its doors in 2004 and can accommodate up to ten families at a time. Since its founding, the PRMH has welcomed more than 500 families.
The PRMH is designed to comfort families and help alleviate any additional financial burden that may result from having a sick child. The House offers many uniquely decorated common areas, including a dining room, playroom and medical and community resource library.
Guests are provided with access to a fully stocked kitchen, pantry and free laundry facilities. Those who must stay in contact with their jobs while away from home are also invited to take advantage of free, private voicemail and pager services and telecommuting facilities during their stay.
The PRMH is composed of two historic two-story, Craftsman-style residences with custom millwork and detailing that reflects the early Arts & Crafts period. The House was originally designed by architect John Conners, and built in 1912 by D. W. March and L.P.C. Baugh for the daughters of former Governor Henry Markham.
