Meet Irvine Family, a student-led group that that has been involved with the Meals of Love program at Ronald McDonald House Orange County for many years!

“Our involvement with RMHOC began through Irvine Family's long-standing participation in the Meal of Love program. Over time, new members have continued to join and carry on this tradition of service. From the start, we've all been drawn to the mission of RMHOC and the opportunity to make a direct, meaningful impact. As a group, we volunteer on a monthly basis, coming to the house to cook and serve homemade breakfast for the families staying there. This has become a core part of our service, and something we all genuinely look forward to every time.

To us, being volunteers at the house means creating comfort and care during what can be a very difficult time for families. It is not just about providing a meal, but also about fostering a warm, welcoming environment. We deeply value the opportunity to support our community in such a personal and tangible way.

One moment that has stayed with us is seeing how appreciative the families are, not just for the food, but for the effort and presence. Even brief interactions, like sharing a smile or conversation, remind us how meaningful it is to simply show up and care.

What keeps us coming back is the sense of connection and purpose we feel each time we visit. Knowing that we can help create a positive and supportive environment for families going through challenging times is incredibly rewarding, and it motivates us to continue our involvement.” - Heather Lee, Irvine Family President 2026

In addition to their monthly service, Irvine Family presented a check donation in spring of 2026 to continue their support of meals. RMHOC relies on the generosity of volunteer groups like Irvine Family for our Meal of Love program. On nights where groups may not be available to cook, funds like these help supplement and ensure families have a warm meal to come back home to.

“We would wholeheartedly encourage anyone considering volunteering or supporting RMHOC to get involved. It is a truly impactful experience, and even small acts, like preparing a meal, can make a meaningful difference in someone's day,” shares Heather.
