The family-centered care that you make possible ensures that families have resources, support, and community through every step of their journey.
When Eva was just 5 years old, she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, which required removing both the tumor and her pituitary gland. To get the care Eva needed, she and her mom, Brittany, traveled hundreds of miles from home. Thankfully, Brittany found a place to stay at Ronald McDonald House®, just steps away from Eva’s side.
“That is such an amazing space to just be able to take care of yourself for a minute,” Brittany says. “Having a place to do our laundry … a place to go get something to eat … even a small thing when you’re in that situation is huge.”
And the support didn’t stop when they left the House. Eva and Brittany reconnected with the House at Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times®, where kids like Eva — plus their families and siblings — can build confidence, have fun, and connect with others who truly understand their journey.
For Brittany, Camp means that her daughter can experience the joy of summer camp, while still having the medical care she needs for her ongoing condition. For Eva, it brings a new sense of independence and opportunity for friendship with other kids who can relate to her experiences.
“This is finally a place where there’s real medical supervision so I can come here on my own,” Eva says. “I’m looking forward to making friends who actually know what I’m talking about when I say the word ‘tumor.’ I’ve got friends at school, but they have no idea what I’ve gone through.”
Whether it was their time at the House or at Camp, Eva and Brittany have found the support they need because of your kindness.
Thank you for providing moments of healing, connection, and hope for families!
